TDC Training Workshops - Presenter Information

Michael Rafferty is principal of Rafferty Communications Strategies, which specializes in helping nonprofits large and small improve their fundraising and communications capacities. Over a career of 28 years in professional resource development work, he has gained expertise across the full spectrum of fundraising activity, from grassroots start-up efforts to $90 million capital campaigns, from community-organized special events to seven-figure major-gift solicitations. His experience ranges from mass marketing solicitations by direct mail, phone, and internet to long-running corporate partnerships and multi-year grants from local and national foundations. His strengths are in strategic fundraising planning for small nonprofit organizations – particularly those where the direct beneficiaries of the organization’s service are not donor prospects. His focus is on major gift cultivation and solicitation, in corporate and foundation relations, and in volunteer management. Prior to becoming a full-time fundraising consultant, Michael was most recently Executive Director of the Brookline High School 21st Century Fund, an organization founded in 1998 to support public education.
